Welcome to the Lower Hudson Valley high school volleyball blog. I’m Daniel Kiernan, one of the two volleyball writers for the Journal News. I’ll be co-authoring this blog with Erin Bruehl, who will be handling Westchester/Putnam while I cover Rockland.
We hope to provide commentary, news, and a public forum for the volleyball community with this space. We’ll be keeping it updated as often as possible, and you’ll be able to leave comments and feedback for us.
I’m understandably pretty excited about the title of this blog. There was a lot of volleyball terminology to play around with, but the above phrase won out. Maybe we should have spelled it differently, a la “Can Ya Dig It?” Or maybe we should’ve taken an even simpler approach with “Ya Dig?” Even still, I’m happy with this one.
I’m looking forward to the season, and I hope we can get out to plenty of matches. There will, of course, be some hiccups, as we can’t always get out to the matches that we want to, but I expect few of these since there will be two of us.
We will also be doing a weekly volleyball segment on NewsCenter Now on RNN (Ch. 19 in Rockland and Westchester, Ch. 20 in Putnam). We’ll let you know when the first one is going to air.
And that’s about it for now. You’ll be seeing me and Erin soon enough at a local match.
