Volleyball in the Lower Hudson Valley

Sailing to the finals

October
30

That was quick.

Hen Hud dismantled Byram Hills in a Class B semifinal today.

I was at the match (surprise, it was 3-0) and I’m already back in the office working on my story. The Sailors won with game scores of 25-7, 25-16 and 25-10.

Kami Nethersole led the way with 12 kills, 3 blocks and 3 aces.

Hen Hud is truly playing incredible volleyball to win like this over a Byram Hills team that is definitely one of the top 5 teams in the section.

The Sailors improved to 20-0 and will play in the Class B final Saturday at John Jay at 6 p.m. They will play the winner of Ardsley at Pelham, which is currently going on right now. Back with more later!

    hey Alex,
What did you think of the atmosphere in that gym? Hen Hud brings the noise! Saturday at 6! here we go Hud!

  2. bleacher creature

    K-TRAIN K-TRAIN K-TRAIN

  3. hen hud boo

As a spectator to the hen hud byram game, I want to congratulate hen hud on the win. But I must say that the display of sportsmanship in the gym by the fans was abpoustly disgusting. When you see players crying on the other team and start chanting start the buses. Its just obvnoxious, and something should have been said to the fans throughout the game. It was a gross display.

Congrats to hen hud they are truly amazing!

  4. hen hud byram game

First off i have to say that i am neutral in this.

But i too was at the Hen Hud Byram game and yes the hen hud fans were quite loud, but i never heard any negativity. And there was no warm the buses cheering.

Byram had a good season, but congrats to Hen Hud for advancing to the finals.

  5. bleacher creature

im sorry hen hud boo there was never a warm the buses chant considering i was a fan yelling. yes we are loud maybe obnoxious but if any girl is going to play in college they are going to be dealing with louder crowds then that

  6. byram

no, there wasnt a start the buses cheer, but there was a nananan, hey hey hey , good bye chant while byram hills players were crying and walking off the court, the hen hud fans displayed NO sportsmanship

  7. bleacher creature

i personally dont agree with that chant but it happened im sure if that game was played in byram hills the fans there would do the same thing we are teenagers having fun get over it

  8. player

im sure you wouldnt consider it fun if you had just lost, and your high school carrer was over if some obnoxious fans were chating nan nan good bye it was rood, im all for cheering, but you have to know when to draw the line

  9. bleacher creature

idont know if you saw when i wrote i dont agree with it, but what i was saying was it happened and you cant change it and i was saying having fun with just cheering in general

  10. sec1 fan

Fans chant and do those cheers at ice hockey, soccer and football games, why is it so terrible to do it at a volleyball game?

  11. byram

its not terrible, its just displays no sportsmanship from hen hud. and yes it happens at college games, thanks alot for looking out and preparing us

  12. meh

i dont think it was that it was bc it was at a volleyball game, rather that it was their last volleyball game, im all for cheering but egging on girls that were already crying, come on grow up!

  13. hen hud

look when your going up against the 2 time state champs these things happen, nice season byram hills you did what you could

  14. hahahah

exactly you were going up against a to time state champ you didnt need to chant like an jerk, your team said it all thank you very much

  15. sec1 fan

Hey, I’m from Pelham, I have witnessed many section championship losses where fans have sang the song. It’s not cruel and unsportsmanlike, if you lose you lose, if you win you win, I’m sick of this whole “everyone is a winner” crap. If you lose, high schoolers will laugh in your face, even if you are crying, and if you win you will get the glory.

  16. jeesh

    sec1 fan, you’re my idol

  17. 986

oh right pelham loses to hend hud every year, my bad i forgot

  18. choo choo

    K TRAINNNNNNNNN

  19. pelham player

986….if you’re from Hen Hud…i hope you realize that sec1fan is SUPPORTING you. And if you’re from byram…......you just lost….go home. Besides, what does pelham losing to hen hud have to do with ANYTHING previously stated?

  20. p-ham

I don’t think pelham has ever lost a game to HEND hud….

  21. get over yourself

two time NEW YORK state champs. not exactly the center of the volleyball universe.

  22. Big Dog Pelham

The Big Dog thanks Ardsley for trying. Pelham is just too much to handle. Watch out Hen Hud!!!!!

  23. westvolleyabll

I for one can’t wait for the Pelham – Hen Hud game tomorrow night – talk about sportsmanship of the fans – did anyone catch the interview with the Pelham player after the finals with Irvington on Saturday – her comments on Pelhams serve receive and the fact that Irvington didn’t get many serves over was deplorable – I hope someone from Hen Hud trashes Pelhams play on TV after tomorrows game – but the Sailors are too classy for that

  24. Ali

Talking about fighting between fans or anyone at a high school volleyball game does not have a place on this blog, Poseidon and Sec1. And they seem like completely uncalled for comments.

  25. westvolleyball

Ahhh…I see that the Pelham fans are as smug and arrogant as many of the players – Pelham should be very proud of their season, but have you looked at the Sailors record?

  26. katie mcnenney

“westvolleyball”...i just have to clarify that i was the pelham player you are talking about on the news and they completely took the question they asked me out of context and made me sound like a jerk. Honestly, i didn’t mean to bash them but they asked me if there was anything that the other team did to help us win in the first game. I was just answering the question they asked me. I feel bad about it but it was completely on accident…

  27. westvolleyball

Katie: I knew you were the one on News 12 but choose not to use your name – good for you for correcting me but the editing did make you sound bad – congratulations on a great season.
