The College of New Rochelle freshman Marissa Armstrong and Purchase College freshman Alex Lally earned weekly awards for their success on the volleyball courts this week.
Armstrong (featured photo), a 5-foot-5 outside hitter from Scottsdale, Arizona, recorded 21 kills at the at the 11th Greyhound Premiere at Moravian College en route to earning Rookie of the Week honors by the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The rookie followed up her collegiate debut with nine kills, six digs and three aces in a win over Centenary College.
In other local news, Lally (right) was named to the Skyline Conference honor roll after tallying five kills, nine assists and three digs in a sweep of rivals Manhattanville last Friday.
Lally, a middle blocker from Sunnyvale, Texas, is the first Panther to receive an honor roll selection in nearly two years. Olivia Hintz was the last honoree, earning an honor roll selection on Sept. 21, 2011.
