No games are scheduled for Friday, at least according to the BOCES site… meaning I might actually enjoy a day off. (And you, as well)
Since there’s literally nothing going on, this is the perfect opportunity to send me your “Player of the Week” nominations. You can submit them via e-mail (email@example.com) or Twitter (@Zacchio_LoHud), but please have any/all submissions in by Saturday night.
There’s no games on Friday, and as far as I know, there’s no local tournaments on Saturday, so you should know what stats and/or performances each player had throughout the week by now. If you are hosting a tournament or playing in a tournament (even if it’s not local), let me know.
The submission process is very informal — please just submit a player name, grade, school, results of each match, stats for each match, and any other important facts as to why you think she (actually, or he) should receive the honor. These can include milestones, school records, leadership, rallies, etc.
Here is a mock example of what I’m looking for:
I would like to nominate LoHud senior Mackenzie McHale for player of the week. Mackenzie led the team in kills and digs in each of the team’s three wins this week and set a school record for kills in a match on Tuesday. Mackenzie rallied the team from down 0-2 to win the final three games of the match. Here is what Mackenzie did this week:
Monday, Sept. 9 — W 3-0 vs. New York: 13 kills, 10 digs
Tuesday, Sept. 10 — W 3-2 at New Jersey: 39 kills, 25 digs, nine aces
Thursday, Sept. 11 — W 3-0 vs. Florida: 15 kills, 11 digs, four aces
Something to that effect; it obviously doesn’t need to be that detailed, although more details certainly help and are welcome. Anybody can nominate a player — coach, parent, fan, teammate — I just ask that they are in by a reasonable time so I can go through the nominations before posting my POTW and new rankings on Sunday.
Other than that, enjoy the three-day (volleyball) weekend!
(P.S. Major props to anyone who caught that Newsroom reference)
