The rain, rain just didn’t want to go away…
Everything was washed out due to tornado warnings across the Lower Hudson Valley. Here’s a full look at the progress throughout the day, including the final call:
UPDATE (4:00 p.m.): I spoke with Section 1 coordinator Diane Swertfager, who said she’s pretty sure all events will be postponed or cancelled today. According to BOCES, the only match still listed is Byram Hills-Westlake, but several Westlake players have already tweeted that their match is cancelled. Unless I’m missing something, it looks like there will be no volleyball tonight. Everyone stay safe, stay warm and watch some football. We’ll be back on tomorrow… hopefully.
UPDATE (3:00 p.m.): Many more postponements: According to the BOCES site, the following matches are all now postponed: Brewster-Mahopac, North Rockland-Clarkstown South, Suffern-Clarkstown North, Horace Greeley-Pearl River, Pleasantville-Roosevelt, Dobbs Ferry-Hastings and Gorton-Briarcliff. BOCES also lists that Port Chester-Valhalla will be played at Kensico School.
UPDATE (2:30 p.m.): More postponements: Just heard from Ardsley coach Dave Ponterio that today’s Haldane-Ardsley game has also been called off. No word yet on when any of the aforementioned matches will be moved to.
UPDATE (1:55 p.m.): More postponements: White Plains-Mamaroneck and Pelham-New Rochelle.
UPDATE (1:15 p.m.): Other postponed matches include: Peekskill-Woodlands, Nyack-Tappan Zee, Scarsdale B-Keio and Fox Lane-Hen Hud. No match, but all Ursuline events are cancelled. If you hear of any others, let me know and I’ll update the post.
UPDATE (1:00 p.m.): I’ll be going to Haldane at Ardsley today after I was informed that Eastchester-Rye has been cancelled due to the area tornado watch.
Here’s a look at the complete schedule, along with my predictions:
