Well, that was quite an interesting Monday we had, wasn’t it?
Tornado warnings in the Lower Hudson Valley, mixed with torrential downpours cancelled or postponed every volleyball match in the area. I don’t know what it is about Mother Nature that makes her go into these massive mood swings in October, but hopefully calms down come playoff time.
Some of yesterday’s matches have been moved to today, which you’ll see below. I didn’t get a chance to change the slate for the paper edition, so what you see here is the updated schedule. For my “match of the night,” I’m going with Haldane at Arlington because this will be an enormous match for the Blue Devils.
The Admirals swept them on their home court in their previous meeting, so right away that has to be in the back of Haldane’s mind. It’s also a league match, which is self-explanitory in terms of importance there. Haldane is red-hot as a team right now, while Arlington is looking to stay hot in its own right. I don’t see too many matches being more competitive than this one on Tuesday, so I figure it’s a good MOTN pick. Given Haldane’s recent surge, and the fact that they are playing like a focused, driven and hungry team, I say the Blue Devils come away with this one in four or five. If Arlington wins, I highly doubt it will be in another sweep.
I’m off for the night, but I’ll try to check scores periodically in between frames at bowling, so tweet me or post any scoring updates you get so I can try and keep you all informed. Of course, if I’m missing any matches below, please let me know so that I can add them.
