For those of you who haven’t heard, Bill Glassman, former NYS girls basketball coordinator and area volleyball coach, passed away on Monday at the age of 64. Here is the full obituary from The Journal News:
William N. “Bill” Glassman age 64 of Buchanan, NY passed away on October 7, 2013 due to complications of Cancer and Heart Disease. Mr. Glassman was born on March 11, 1949 in New York City to Sam and Gloria Bienstock Glassman.
William attended the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree. He spent his life as a Teacher, Coach and Camp Director. For over thirty years Bill coached Basketball, Volleyball and Softball at many of the local area High Schools including Yorktown, Briarcliff, Edgemont and Scarsdale. A very fulfilling time during his coaching career was as the New York State Girls Basketball Coordinator for Section 1. Bill was the Camp Director for North Castle Parks and Recreation Day Camp and worked in the Special Education Department at Pleasantville and Fox Lane High Schools.
Bill was the loving brother of Margery Auslender and her husband, Aaron and cherished Uncle to David and Sam Auslender.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10th, from 10-11 a.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Memorial Service will follow at 11am at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bill’s memory to a charity of your choice.
