UPDATE: I just spoke with my editor, and the first live LoHud volleyball chat will now be held next week on Wednesday, October 23.
Due to a last-minute scheduling conflict in the office, trying to hold the chat on Friday or Saturday would just be hectic. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. However, with the chat now on Wednesday, it presents a bevy of positives; the top two being:
- More time to spread the word. The pitfall is that we now have to wait another week; but it also gives us another week to spread the word and/or clear up any conflicts you probably don’t need to worry about (i.e. that dinner with your in-laws).
- The seeding meeting is earlier that morning! Not only will my predictions already be up on the blog by the time the chat is held (around 7-7:30 p.m.), but you can ask about my thoughts on the seedings and question some (or most) of my predictions.
With the format of the section tournament up in the air, it’s almost impossible for me to make predictions on what the seeds will be. I love covering volleyball and I love stats, but I would really rather not crunch numbers two sets of possible seeds (one based on 16 matches, the other based on 20) for five different classes. Plus, we don’t even know that it will be 16 or 20 matches. The athletic council said 20 matches, and the section is pitching 16, so they can wind up coming to a neutral 18 matches for all we know.
My colleague Josh Thomson is hosting a live chat for football on his blog at 7:30 p.m. at varsityinsider.lohudblogs.com. If you want to see what the chats look like in action, tonight is the perfect chance.
