Dobbs Ferry is having a historic year — a 17-0 start, a league championship and tons of hype heading into the final week of the regular season. Sophomore Alexis Demitrovic has been the catalyst of this Eagles squad.
Playing in matches that could clinch a share of the league title and then sole possession of the league crown, respectively, the well-rounded setter had two big matches; two very, very big matches.
Demitrovic recorded back-to-back triple-doubles in wins against Mamaroneck and Sleepy Hollow, respectively, making her the first person in the section to accomplish the feat. Demitrovic leads all Section 1 players with four triple-doubles this year. Her latest accomplishments have earned her “Player of the Week” honors.
Dobbs Ferry will conclude its season in a league match against Edgemont on Monday. Looking at the teams in Class C around the section, it’s an all-but certainty that the Eagles will have the No. 1 seed when the field is revealed on Wednesday — win or lose on Monday.
