Despite no volleyball on the slate, we were brought some breaking news on Thursday in the form of two college commitments — one on the female’s side, one on the male’s side.
Kennedy senior Caroline Erb announced that she orally committed to Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. I confirmed to me that she plans on playing volleyball for the Mules in 2014 and that because it is a Division-III school, there is no scholarship.

Later in the night — not long after, actually — Suffern boys volleyball standout and reigning Journal News player of the year Tom Sharp also announced that he had decided on where he will take his talents next season.
However, unlike Erb, Sharp when sharp attends Lynn University in Florida, he will not be continuing his career. Instead, the Mounty said he will be playing lacrosse for the Fighting Knights in what will be the 2015 lacrosse season.

During the live blog chat last night, I was informed that John Jay’s junior libero Theresa Swertfager will be playing softball for the University of Florida when she graduates. Because it was an anonymous post — I should rephrase — especially since it was anonymous post, I’ll get in touch with Swertfager just to make absolutely sure it’s a done-deal.
Even though we don’t cover John Jay-East Fishkill, it’s no secret that Megan Theiller is one of the best players in the section. So when it was announced during the chat that the senior had been offered a scholarship to play at Fairfield, it’s worth noting here. I’ll try and pin that one down on Friday.
If you either know of anyone (or are someone) who has committed to a college — at any level, for any sport or strictly for academics — please let me know; I’d be happy to shout them out and add them to the “Where are they now?” list next year. Feel free to tweet or e-mail me with any announcements.
