The Section 1 tournament quarterfinals kick-off today, with Classes A and C holding court. Today is my off day, but I’ll most likely go to the Horace Greeley-Yorktown match just to check it out. Please feel free to tweet or e-mail me any updates from around the section.
I’ve never seen “The Crop” in full-form (live, anyway), and as Yorktown hoopster Patrick O’Meara, overseer of the Crop’s Twitter account, informed me, it looks like I’ll “be in for a treat” on Monday.

I also think that it will be the most interesting quarterfinal of the day, if nothing else. As some of you may have read in my blog column on Saturday, it could put Section 1 in quite the bind if the Quakers were to upset the top-seeded Huskers.
Tracking down nine matches on an off day will be much more manageable than trying to find out what’s going on from 24 other matches in addition to writing a game story, as was the case with Friday.
The only non-quarterfinal match will be Putnam Valley-Edgemont, which will play on Monday after its match was protested on Friday because the second referee did not show up. The winner of that match will play at No. 4 Lourdes on Tuesday.
Below is the complete schedule for Monday; all of my predictions for the tournament can be found here.
