During her time at Suffern, Elizabeth Flaherty flourished.
A two-time Journal News Rockland player of the year, Flaherty was one of the best volleyball players to ever come out of the Mounties program. Now a sophomore at Roger Williams, her resume keeps growing.
Last week, Flaherty (pictured right) helped the Hawks to their fifth-straight Commonwealth Coast Conference championship, recording nine kills and eight digs in a sweep of Endicott in the final this past Saturday to secure a berth in the NCAA Division-III tournament.
In RWU’s first round contest, the Hawks swept Skyline Conference representatives St. Joseph’s of Long Island, giving the program its first-ever NCAA tournament win while also setting the new program wins record, improving to 31-3 overall on the year.
The Hawks will play the University of Massachusetts at Boston in the Round of 32 tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Fans can view the entire NCAA D-III bracket, which should give live stats for each match, here.
