The good news? There’s only five matches on today’s slate. The bad news? We’re only staffing one of them.
It was a judgement call on my part as to which match we would staff, so if there’s any anger built up inside of you, please direct it at me, and not the paper or my editors. I will be attending the Class B semifinal between Hen Hud-Ardsley, rather than the Section 1 boys championship between Clarkstown North-Suffern.
Logic No. 1: The state regional semifinals for the boys are hosted by Section 1 this year. Suffern, winner of the last six section titles, will likely win today and remain unbeaten. We are also likely staffing that regional semifinal (whomever is in it from Section 1) over a girls regional upstate. I also plan on using the boys match today as the lead in the volleyball roundup file, so please do not think I am purposely snubbing the boys.
Logic No. 2: The girls match is a rematch of last year’s epic finale. If Hen Hud wins again this year, Ardsley’s perfect season is over (again) at the hands of the Sailors (again) and Hen Hud will get a chance to play for the championship (again). If Ardsley wins, not only does it get redemption, but it continues its perfect season and will play for its first title since 2007.
Logic No. 3: I really want to see if this guy wears this shirt again.
