I was originally scheduled to cover Hen Hud at Ardsley, but thanks to the school’s second lockdown in as many days, the match has been postponed until Thursday at 4:15 p.m, according to Sailors coach and Section 1 coordinator Diane Swertfager. Rather than try to race over to Rockland and risk not even getting a photographer, I covered Nanuet-Pelham instead, and that was quite the thriller.

Dobbs Ferry 3, Rye Neck 1: In a Section 1 Class C semifinal match at No. 1 Dobbs Ferry, Emily Dea-Jue had 14 kills in a 21-25, 25-14, 29-27, 25-23 win over the fourth-seeded Panthers. Defending champion Dobbs Ferry will play No. 3 Westlake for the championship Friday at John Jay at 6 p.m.
Westlake 3, Blind Brook 2: In a Section 1 Class C semifinal match at No. 2 Blind Brook, junior Steph Rizzo had 16 aces and 30 assists in a 23-25, 25-14, 25-16, 18-25, 27-25 win. Trojans senior Lindsey Kim had 31 kills, 10 aces and 32 digs.
Boys volleyball: Mike Owens and Sean Culwell each had seven kills as No. 1 Suffern rolled to its seventh consecutive Section 1 boys championship, defeating Clarkstown North 25-13, 25-21, 25-14. Suffern will host the Section 2 champion in the state regional semifinals on Nov. 5 at a time to be announced.
