Even on an “off” day, it was filled with madness — from a defending champion going down, to the finals schedule getting completely revamped (again), to an odd bit of news I heard at the end of the night, which you’ll find out about tomorrow — it was, well, still is, a long day.
My colleague Chad Jennings staffed the Section 1 Class AA semifinal between No. 3 Clarkstown South and No. 2 Mahopac, while I popped over to Ardsley for the second time in as many days to see the rematch of last year’s Section 1 Class B final — No. 1 Ardsley against now-fifth-seeded Hen Hud.
Below are other results from around the section. We did not get recaps from the Section 1 Class D semifinals Haldane-Tuckahoe and Keio-Hamilton by deadline, but Haldane and Keio won and will play for the title Saturday at Croton-Harmon at 2 p.m.
Suffern 3, Scarsdale 0: In a Section 1 Class AA semifinal at No. 1 Suffern, Taylor Cimillo had 14 kills in a 25-19, 25-12, 25-22 win over No. 4 Scarsdale. Julia Hrycyk had 30 assists for the Mounties. Suffern will play No. 3 Clarkstown South in the championship Saturday at Croton-Harmon at 4 p.m.

It is the first time the Panthers have ever beaten the Sailors under coach Dave Ponterio, who has been at the helm for over 20 years. Hayley Kmetz had 15 kills and 15 digs for the Panthers. Ardsley will play No. 3 Nanuet in the championship Saturday at Croton-Harmon at 10 a.m.
