STONE RIDGE — John Jay didn’t look great Friday night, it really didn’t. Even coach Tom Rizzotti admitted they had an “off day” in the Class A state regional final against Cornwall at SUNY Ulster. That only makes the Indians’ four-game win even more impressive.
A talented Cornwall team came out of the gate scorching hot, downing John Jay, 25-17. Once the Indians were able to shake it off, they took the next three games, taking the regional crown for the first time in program history. The Indians will head to Glens Falls for the state semifinals on Nov. 15, where it will begin pool play at 8 a.m.
I should have the full schedule of opponents by Sunday.
Rizzotti and the girls obviously must have read my scouting report for the match, because they knew I predicted John Jay in four games. What can I say, I have a gift. Now if I could only predict lotto numbers, I’d really be in business.
Rizzotti, to me after the match: “We wanted to do it in four just so (your prediction) would be right.”
