Third game update: Westlake wins 25-20 to close out the match 3-0. A very impressive victory for the Wildcats who will head back to Glens Falls for the state final four next weekend. Back with more later.

Suffern boys have season end in regionals

November
8

I recently talked with Suffern boys volleyball coach Kim Cleary, who was on the bus with the team as they headed back from Syracuse (I hope they weren’t on a regular school bus).

Anyway, Suffern was eliminated in pool play at regionals at Cicero-North High School after compiling a 1-7 record against the winners of Sections [...]

Haldane headed back to states

November
8

Today I saw the Class D regional final between Haldane and Section 11’s Shelter Island. Haldane had some troubles in the first and third sets, but still emerged with a 3-0 win.

The Blue Devils will now play in the state final four next weekend at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Amazingly, it’s the fourth straight [...]

Thursday ramblings

November
7

Hey everyone,

We’re getting closer and closer to determining who will make the state final four in each class, but first, I wanted to comment on the boys sectional final.

What a well played match between Suffern and Clarkstown North. The Mounties won 3-0, but all three games were very competitive. Also, I was really impressed with [...]

3 out of 4 ain’t bad

November
4

So Casey and I made the trip all the way up to the Elmira area to cover four regional semifinals at two different sites. When you drive that far (you know it’s far when you reach Binghamton and you’re not even thinking about stopping yet), you want to see some good volleyball and we certainly [...]

Section 4 matchups

November
3

Thanks to a state volleyball insider (not sure if he wanted me to disclose his name), I have acquired some information on the Section 4 teams.

Let’s start with Class AA. Horseheads does not have a boy playing for the team anymore. They do have three really strong senior hitters and a tall middle hitter that [...]

Matchups for Regionals

November
2

Thanks to some sleuth reporting late last night (loved getting that extra hour of sleep), I was able to come up with the matchups for this week’s regionals. They are as follows:

Regional Semifinals Tuesday at Section 4 teams:

Class B: Hen Hud vs. Oswego at Horseheads High School, 4:30 p.m.

Class A: Fox Lane vs. Vestal at [...]

And the streak continues

November
1

I’m back in the office writing my game story, but just wanted to touch base with a few details on the Class B championship between Hen Hud and Pelham.

The win gives Hen Hud an incredible nine straight sectional titles.

Like they did against Byram Hills, the Sailors once again dominated a very good team. The 3-0 [...]

Class AA final

November
1

6:07 p.m.: And the marathon match is over. Suffern won game five 25-13 and is headed to the regional semifinals on Tuesday at Section 4.

Great job by the Mounties hanging in that game four. Once they knotted up the match, the fifth set was all theirs.

Casey will have more on this match later. For now, we’re getting set [...]

Haldane wins

November
1

Hey everyone, I’m back. A big thanks to Jeff for posting for me following Haldane’s 3-0 win over Keio. Somehow, by leaning up against one of the doors leading outside from the gym, I was able to get a signal just long enough to get the call in…

Anyway, Haldane won it’s fifth straight Section 1 [...]
